Hollywood, CA January 26th 2010 –After Darks 4th Installment of 8 Films to Die For opens in theatres throughout the country Friday January 29th 2010. THE GRAVES, written & directed by Brian Pulido and Kevin Hamedani’s Horror  comedy ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction’s Red Carpet Premiere takes place on Saturday January 30th at the Beverly Center Cinemas in Hollywood, CA. THE GRAVES is about two sisters whose visit to Skull City Mine turns into a mind bending fight for survival against menaces both human, and supernatural, starring Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), Tony Todd (Candyman), D. MEGADETH ANNOUNCE MORE DATES FOR ‘RUST IN PEACE 20th ANNIVERSARY TOUR’

BAND TO PERFORM LANDMARK ALBUM IN ITS ENTIRETY.

New York, NY: IT’S been whispered about, discussed and desired amongst the international thrash metal community, and finally it can be screamed loudly from rooftops, street-corners and car windows.

The mighty Megadeth will join forces with Testament and Exodus for this historic month-long jaunt that will find these thrash titans crisscrossing the nation on the ‘Rust in Peace’ 20th anniversary tour. These will be incredibly special shows that will delight Megadeth fans, as the band will be playing their landmark, genre-defining album, 1990’s Rust in Peace, in its entirety, in addition to other Megadeth set list favorites.

Megadeth’s latest, ENDGAME, was released in September 2009 and received some of the highest critical accolades of the band’s career. In this monsterously massive celebration of metal, Testament felt it was time to throw down the gauntlet and bring people back to the roots of their visceral and vice-tight music, re-invoking songs which helped lay the foundation for a thrash generation. “We wanted to give the fans something different,” says frontman Chuck Billy, “we wanted to play these songs which have not been played since we’ve been touring “Formation Of Damnation.”

“I can’t believe that we wrote this stuff when we are 17, 18, and 19 years old,” says Eric Peterson. “Although ‘Formation…’ stands on it’s own, we cannot even write music today like we did back then. ‘The Legacy’ will always be our legacy.”

Refreshingly brutal, yet steeped in clever melodic twists, ‘The Legacy’ was a scene-busting statement of intent by Billy, guitarists Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick, bassist Greg Christian and drummer Louie Clemente. “These are the first nine songs we put together,” says Billy proudly, “this is what started the band, so we wanted to go back and give the fans a chance to not only get back to metal’s roots, but to feel the force of Testament’s roots at the same time.”And it’s no wonder with a foundation like that we are still here today,” adds Peterson

This will prove to be a thrash metal wet dream and I cannot wait to get the party started and hit the road on this beast of a tour! BLACK LABEL SOCIETY signs ROADRUNNER again

Roadrunner International ha messo nuovamente sotto contratto in esclusiva per tutta l’Europa la band del leggendario chitarrista Zakk Wylde, i Black Label Society, per il loro prossimo album in studio in uscita in estate.

Sono passati oltre 23 anni da quando l’allora diciottenne Wylde entrò nelle nostre vite con una Les Paul in mano e un muro di Marshall dietro di lui, abbagliando le masse con il suo fantasioso ma feroce tecnicismo come chitarrista e co-autore della band di Ozzy Osbourne, un ruolo che avrebbe ricoperto per più di venti anni. Da allora è diventato uno dei musicisti più riconoscibili e rispettati del suo tempo, indicato come uno dei più grandi chitarristi che il mondo metal abbia mai avuto e il suo modo di suonare ha ispirato un milione di chitarristi in erba e ha contribuito a rendere la chitarra Gibson Les Paul la chitarra più riconoscibile del pianeta. Durante il tempo trascorso con Ozzy, Zakk Wylde ha dato vita al suo gruppo Black Label Society. Dal momento della loro nascita, nel 1998, sono stati pubblicati sette album di studio che hanno venduto oltre un milione e mezzo di copie e la band si è prodotta in entusiasmanti live show. A inizio febbraio Wylde e i Black Label Society entreranno in studio per incidere il nuovo album. “Avere lo studio praticamente a casa mi consentirà di lavorare in maniera più flessibile, potendo fissare le idee in qualsiasi momento del giorno e della notte”.

L’album ancora senza titolo arriverà nei negozi europei all’inizio dell’estate su Roadrunner Records. Zakk Wylde al riguardo ha dichiarato “Sono pronto a collaborare con i Black Label Brothers and Sisters di Roadrunner in Europa. Essi condividono con i Black Label Society la stessa forza, la determinazione, la spietatezza, e l’attitudine, quindi ci è sembrato naturale continuare a lavorare insieme”.

SD: All’anagrafe Eugenio Cannarsa, perché Waxer ?

W: E’ una storia lunga, ma diciamo che ha origine per la mia attitudine per le feste…il vero motivo e’ che avevo quattordici anni mi sentivo “ganzo” e cercavo sempre di mostrare un’eta’ superiore a quella che avevo, e andavo sempre in giro con un’impermeabile identico a quello di Waxer in un ‘Mercoledi da Leoni’. Poi mi piaceva sempre fare casino e il risultato naturale e’ stato Waxer. Per fortuna qualche caro amico del Marasma Surf Club ogni tanto me le suonava di santa ragione e tornavo sulla retta via…sai le solite cazzate da ragazzini. Ah dimenticavo quell’impermeabile lo possiedo ancora.

SD: Chi sei, da dove vieni, cosa fai o pensi di fare, cosa avresti voluto fare, cosa farai? (1 fiorino, ndr)

W: Sono una persona normale, che vive la propria vita cercando di ottenere il meglio dando il meglio, mi reputo una persona piena di difetti ma con un ottimo approccio critico alla realta’…anche se a volte sono molto cinico. Sono di Rimini e porto nel cuore la mia citta’, il mio home-spot, la mia famiglia, la mia ragazza, i miei amici e tutto il Marasma Surf Club e’ come la mia seconda famiglia.
Cosa faccio nella vita è un grosso punto interrogativo? Mi occupo di arte e design con una discreta attitudine al management. Sto viaggiando, facendo il giro del mondo: California, Hawaii, Australia, Nuova Zelanda, Bali, Fiji, Cina.

SD: Cosa pensi di fare?

W: Sicuramente uno dei miei obbiettivi principali e’ rimettermi a dipingere al piu’ presto perche’ ho ottime idee che vorrei applicare su tela; ho iniziato la post produzione del mio nuovo progetto, ma preferisco non svelare niente…non che gliene freghi nulla a nessuno, pero’ sono molto geloso delle mie idee.

SD: Cosa avresti voluto fare?

W: Avrei voluto viaggiare di piu’, ma come molti miei amici sanno, non ho avuto anni facili per colpa della mia salute, la mia schiena che mi ha lasciato pressochè immobile per un bel po’ di tempo. Quando sei un letto con la gamba addormentata che non ti si muove i pensieri positivi sono l’ultima cosa che ti passano per la testa. Mi sento una persona fortunata perche’ grazie a Carlo Arata, il mio “chiropratico e amico”, e’ riuscito a ridarmi l’energia e il giusto assetto per riuscire a rimettere piede sulla tavola.

SD: Tu vieni dalla rinomata costa Romagnola, dove le spiagge sono addobbate con file di ombrelloni d’estate, mentre d’inverno tutto sembra abbandonato e senza suono. Ma secondo te, quali sono i suoni e le musiche della tua terra natale?

W: Io porto nel cuore la Romagna, ma porto nel cuore anche il Molise e Termoli dove ho surfato la mia prima onda grazie ad Antonio Cappella che mi prestò la sua tavola. Ricordo che stavo ore aspettando a riva che finisse di surfare poi quando usciva dall’acqua cercavo d’impietosirlo in tutti i modi possibili per farmi prestare la sua tavola, mi guardava sempre un po’ come per dire “Eugge statte attientu” e poi con un sorriso mi lasciava andare a surfare con la sua tavola. Per tornare alla domanda noi romagnoli, siamo siamo solari e ospitali ma anche nostalgici e scontrosi e credo che il clima caratterizzi il nostro carattere, poi si sa siamo teste calde…In Romagna viviamo in un specie di bolla temporale sei mesi all’anno e per altri sei mesi viviamo in un’altra, un po’ come avere i piedi a bagno per sei mesi nella pentola a pressione e altri sei nel congelatore. A voglia a dire che non ci sono piu’ le mezze stagioni qui da noi passi dall’inverno all’estate in due giorni…grazie bora!

SD: C’è una canzone che ti ha cambiato la vita?

W: Rino Gaetano ‘Mio Fratello E’ Figlio Unico’

SD: I tuoi genitori sono entrambi artisti, che influenza ha avuto il loro stile di vita su di te, cosa ti hanno trasmesso a livello professionale?

W: Se dicessi che non mi hanno influenzato direi una stupidata, non smetterò mai di ringraziarli per le ore perse ad annoiarmi davanti ai quadri di Francis Bacon, Caravaggio, Wharol, ecc. Ho capito solo dopo l’importanza dell’acido lattico alle ginocchia per essere stato chiuso in una mostra per 3/4 ore o intere giornate alla biennale d’arte. Oppure le urla di mio padre quando entravo nella camera oscura e gli bruciavo tutte le pellicole ahaahhhaha!!!

SD: Quale è stato il concerto che ti ha maggiormente colpito?

W: E’ una domanda difficile, ne ho visti tanti e alla fine penso che ogni concerto abbia qualcosa di magico, dipende da molti fattori: con chi vai, se il gruppo e’ in forma, ecc. Sicuramente i Muse dal punto di vista tecnico musicale sono la perfezione assoluta; i Soulfly al Velvet (Rn) sono stati incredibili: energia allo stato puro.

SD: Parlaci un po’ del surf…di come te la vivi…

W: Be il surf e’ la mia vita e’ anche il mio più grosso ostacolo in ogni ambito sentimentale e lavorativo, condiziona il mio umore e la mia vita di tutti i giorni, se devo essere sincero preferirei avere la stessa passione che ho per il surf…per il biliardo ad esempio.

SD: Come surfista come ti reputi ? Che livello pensi di aver raggiunto?

W: Come surfista mi reputo un “hardcore chicken”…così mi definisce Jerry “il filmer qui con me alle Hawaii, ha 62 anni e dopo 10 anni che non surfava va meglio di me”. Alcune volte non mi butto su delle onde che sarebbero fattibili mi faccio le paranoie perche’ non mi vorrei rispaccare la schiena, poi ogni tanto mi infilo in qualche session che neanch’io so come mi passa per la testa di buttarmi. L’ultima due settimane fa a Chun’s Reef con Kyle…abbiamo rischiato di uscire piu’ morti che vivi. Il mio livello credo che sia ottimo Adriatico / medio italiano / pippa europea / supercazzola mondiale.

SD: Ringraziamenti particolari…

W: Se potessi nella mia vita vorrei fare un’intervista fatta solo di ringraziamenti, ma siccome nessuno me la fara’ mai fare…ringrazio Surfing Shop e tu che mi supporti… tutti i ragazzi con cui sono andato a surfare; grandi persone che mi hanno cambiato la mia vita. “Grazie Tommy ti portero’ sempre nel cuore”…chiudo il sipario.

SOLE & THE SKYRIDER, Plastic Tour 2010.

È sempre difficile racchiudere la musica di Sole in una definizione.
Per quanto le classificazioni in ambito musicale siano sempre sterili, e Sole sia particolarmente refrattario a ogni etichetta, una cosa è certa: non possiamo prescindere da quello che è stato il suo background artistico.
Infatti, Sole, è uno dei fondatori dell’’etichetta hip hop più avveniristica degli anni Novanta, l’Anticon. Quella col logo a forma di formica, per intenderci. E che negli ultimi anni ha prodotto artisti indipendenti come Why? o Odd Nosdam.
Allontanandosi dagli stereotipi del genere, questa etichetta è stata per anni il simbolo dell’hip hop sperimentale e di quella ricerca sonora e espressiva che ha trovato, soprattutto negli ambienti post-punk e indie, un enorme seguito.
Anche questo nuovo progetto si presenta come un salto nel futuro. ‘Plastic’, l’album di Sole e The Skyrider, fonde le acide visioni suonate da Bud Berning all’ Mpc e alla chitarra con i ritmi blues del batterista John Wagner, e usa il rap di Sole come asse strutturale di una band in cui ogni elemento è valorizzato.

Anche se Sole mancava ai microfoni da un po’, il suo stile è quello fresco e aggressivo di sempre, con pause e chiusure mai banali, dalla forte presenza live.
Lo show si distingue subito per il suo carattere eccentrico, dove i toni scuri peculiari dell’ Avant Hop si mischiano a groove D’ N’ B e a melodie più Indie, evocando visioni post-atomiche che proiettano lo spettatore in un futuro dissociato sia nello spazio sia nel tempo.
Il sound più vicino ai Massive Attack che ai Dilated People – Non è un caso se c’è la feat di Markus Acher dei Notwist – e i testi alla Philip K Dick, potrebbero far torcere il naso a un purista dell’hip hop, ma, qualunque sia il tuo genere musicale, dopo il concerto di Sole e The Skyrider non potrai negare di aver assistito a qualcosa di innovativo. Non dico memorabile, ma originale. Almeno per l’Italia.
Per una volta, un concerto dove anche la vostra ragazza potrebbe non annoiarsi.

Registrato da Bruno Germano (Settlefish), ‘How Could A Village Turn Into A Town’ segna un ulteriore passo avanti nella crescita artistica e creativa dei My Awesome Mixtape. Pensato, arrangiato e suonato come un lavoro “di gruppo”, il disco affianca la freschezza compositiva degli esordi ad una rinnovata maturità e consapevolezza nel plasmare la materia sonora: l’album infatti vede la presenza di vere e proprie parti orchestrali, arrangiamenti complessi e ricercati e mischia riferimenti sia alla musica nera che all’indie pop col quale il gruppo ha esordito.

Più spazio per gli strumenti veri, archi, fiati, batterie, e meno elettronica lo-fi, quindi, senza perdere in freschezza e immediatezza, ma focalizzando l’attenzione sulle canzoni, che fanno venire voglia di alzare il volume al massimo e battere il piedino e muovere la testa. Insomma, ballare!

L’album vede inoltre interessanti collaborazioni con artisti come Paolo Iocca dei Blake/e/e/e (steel drums in ‘Bad Marks At School’) e gli It’s a Musical, band metà tedesca e metà svedese che propone un raffinato indie-pop (backing vocals in ‘How The Feet Touch The Ground’).

Esordio discografico per gli Unaware, post hardcore band pescarese, che sforna il primo EP, totalmente autoprodotto dal titolo ‘Escape From Gaia’ ossia “Fuga Dalla Terra”. Un rapporto tellurico quello tra l’uomo e la natura, che nei secoli si é esponenzialmente deteriorato, visto che l’essere umano ripone quotidianamente le sue ansie, i suoi vuoti, le sue insicurezze sulla natura e, di conseguenza, sull’umanità intera e su se stesso, rifuggendosi e rifuggendo tutto ciò che lo circonda. Le sonorità potenti del disco, intrise di ariose melodie ma anche di acide dissonanze, si conciliano alla perfezione con il lirismo che alterna messaggi diretti a momenti più ermetici, ponendo all’ascoltatore domande, analisi e spunti autocritici, facendo immedesimare lo stesso nel protagonista assoluto del disco, l’Uomo.

La band ha impegnato circa un anno nella stesura del disco e quasi un mese di registrazioni presso i Twelve Studios di Tocco Da Casauria (PE), sotto la supervisione di Andrea Di Giambattista.

La masterizzazione é stata affidata ad Alan Douches presso i West West Side Music Studios di New Windsor, New York (U.S.A.).

Il cd verrà presentato in due live dove ad accompagnarli ci saranno i cuneesi Dogs For Breakfast:

Dal 1° al 6 di Aprile la band intraprenderà un mini tour europeo.

Jazz Not Dead returns for its sixth offering

The Italian festival will begin its Tuesday run in January, with headliners including Daniele Baldelli, Quarion, Daniel Wang and more.

Vicenza, Italy’s Jazz Not Dead Festival will take over Tuesday nights at Bar Sartea for ten consecutive weeks for the sixth edition of the festival starting late next month.

This year’s “Raw House” theme once again features a line-up of home-grown and internationally-known jocks who love house and techno. Beginning in January, Jazz Not Dead welcomes festival favorite and legendary Italian DJ Daniele Baldelli, a man who began playing records before the word “DJ” existed, back to the festival. Also returning to JND are Panorama Bar residents Tama Sumo and Prosumer, a few among the cadre to represent Berlin, along with Quarion and RA podcaster and Laid label manager Dor.

A healthy dose of Italian talent is included on the line-up as well, including Bar Sartea resident and festival organizer Dax DJ, Batongo, Marcello Napoletano and Ralf. JND veteran and disco producer and DJ Daniel Wang closes the festival, but not before Scott Ferguson and Novel Sound imprint owner and the Deconstruct Music label boss Levon Vincent play on their respective Tuesdays.

Each party will only go until 2 AM, but as in years past, Dax has decided to help Italian clubbers make their decision pretty easy by making each event free of charge.

MOJOMATICS, NUOVE DATE IN ITALIA.

La band al lavoro per il nuovo album, in anteprima live in Italia a partire dal 29 Gennaio!
Dopo 5 esaltanti tour in Italia e in Europa, i Mojomatics sono sbarcati anche in America, e l’hanno fatto in grande stile.

Invitati dalla prestigiosa rivista e record label Vice per il mastodontico SCION GARAGE FEST (che radunava a Portland, per un unico evento, il meglio della scena Garage-Rock’n'Roll mondiale), il duo ha intrapreso un tour di tre settimane che li ha portati dal Texas alla West Coast con 23 concerti.
Tutto questo anche per promuovere i tre nuovissimi singoli 7” in vinile usciti per altrettante rinomate etichette statunitensi (Douchemaster, Hell Yes! e Big Neck), che rappresentano le prime uscite “ufficiali” d’oltreoceano per la band.

Ma gli impegni non sono certo finiti qui. La band è infatti al lavoro presso gli Outside Inside Studio per la realizzazione del quarto album che presenterà in anteprima con alcuni show in Italia dove il loro video per ‘Don’t Believe Me When I’m High’ sta spopolando nelle maggiori TV musicali nazionali.

In arrivo anche un nuovo tour in Europa, ed uno in Australia, a seguito della ristampa nella patria del rock dell’emisfero sud di ‘Don’t Pretend That You Know Me’ (con tanto di bonus tracks).
