‘Volcom Entertainment Rock-Tested’-CD
(Volcom Entertainment)

SIX MAGICS
‘Behind The Sorrow’-CD
(Coroner)

MERIWETHER ANNOUNCES MARCH 22 AS DIGITAL RELEASE DATE FOR ‘PLUG IN THE SNAKES’

BAND PLAYING SXSW MARCH 19 & 20 FOLLOWED BY A SLEW OF REGIONAL DATES THROUGHOUT APRIL;

FULL U.S. SUMMER TOUR IN THE WORKS

Baton Rouge rockers MERIWETHER announced the digital release date of their new album, ‘Plug In The Snakes’ for March 22, 2010. The band will begin celebrating its new release with three high profile shows in Austin , TX at SXSW on March 19 and 20.

Anyone attending SXSW should make the effort to catch the band’s blistering live set at one of the following performances: March 19 at the All Together Now Showcase at Bayou Lounge at 11:20PM (18+); March 19 at the Texas Rockfest (outdoors on the corner of 7th and Neches) at 1AM (all ages); and March 20 at the MusicGorilla.com Showcase at Treasure Island at 12AM (21+)

With over 4 million new media plays, the band is already a premier headlining act in the Southeast consistently selling out top draw venues such as the New Orleans House of Blues, and the Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge . After finding much success selling more than 15,000 copies of its GVE Records debut ‘Make Your Move’, MERIWETHER is amping up for the worldwide release of its new album, ‘Plug In The Snakes’.

The band took a minor detour after the release of its debut as its sophomore effort ‘Sons Of Our Fathers’ (produced by Howard Benson) was shelved after signing a major label deal with Suretone/Interscope Records. Severing those ties, MERIWETHER has gone back to its roots and is as fierce and hungry as ever. ‘Plug In The Snakes’ was recorded and self-produced with the help of local prodigy Brian Beyt and also features guest appearances from several popular artists from the region.

“Plug in the Snakes is pretty fast-paced and full of energy,” singer/guitarist Drew Reilley explained to LSU’s Tiger Weekly.

“We went out-of-the-box for the recordings and tried to have a lot of fun experimenting with different instruments,” Reilley offers. “It’s much more aggressive than our past recordings. I think our frustration with the situation we’ve been in with the industry over the last few years has definitely contributed to this.”

For MERIWETHER (singer/guitarist Drew Reilley; guitarist Steve Bergeron, bassist Josh Barbier, guitarist/keyboardist Skip Angelle and drummer Sam Anderson) it’s all about wearing your heart on your sleeve. “I try to be as straightforward as I can,” Reilley confesses. “I think honesty is one of the biggest keys: let’s get to the point and have people connect immediately.”

Warped Tour veterans, MERIWETHER has also opened for everyone from The Starting Line and Armor For Sleep to Puddle Of Mudd and Staind. “We’re definitely a live band,” Reilley points out. “It’s the rawest form of a band: it’s just us with all our guards down and guns blaring. We love to play and I love to be on tour. It’s almost sick how much I like to be on the road.”

SON OF AURELIUS TO RELEASE ‘THE FARTHEST REACHES’ APRIL 13th ON GOOD FIGHT MUSIC

TOURING PLANS TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON

In 2009 local Santa Cruz musicians came together for a 3 song recording project that included vocalist Josh Miller, guitarist Cary Gear, and a rhythm section made up of drummer Spencer Edwards and Berklee trained bassist Max Zigman. The recording took place at producer Zack Ohren’s Castle Ultimate Studios. Zack previously produced albums for All Shall Perish, Suffocation, and Decrepit Birth. To a man, the band was floored by the depth and ferocity of the music they created. Their ability to blend technical progression, brutal death, and accents of melody compelled them to turn their studio session into a full time mission.

With some recorded material under their belt the guys added the final piece to their line up, former Animosity guitarist Chase Fraser. Chase had already experienced multiple worldwide album releases and relentless touring around the earth throughout his time in Animosity. With Chase on board the line up was now complete and the band was ready to record a full length album. The guys knew there was only one studio and one man to be at the helm of their full length, so they once again teamed up with producer Zack Ohren at Castle Ultimate Studios. The band knew they wanted to write music that pushed the boundaries of heavy metal and challenge the depth of songwriting in the extreme death genre. It only takes a few seconds into the first track to pick up on the complexity and sheer brilliance of the musicianship. Perhaps the biggest nod to the songwriting for SON OF AURELIUS is that they never get lost in the overindulgence of shredding that tends to plague so many bands that lean towards the progressive and technical side of metal. There are hooks and moments of melody that blend perfectly with the all out attack of musicianship. No part ever feels contrived or randomly thrown in just for the sake of change. When the guitars take over and lead the charge it is done so with sincerity. When a hook kicks in it is a complement to the song structure and lets the listener settle in for the ride. The cherry on the top for the recording session was getting Alan Douches on the job for the mastering. Alan has worked with some of the titans of heavy metal including Mastodon, Shadows Fall, Cannibal Corpse, and The Black Dahlia Murder. Having Alan place his touch on the recordings gives the material the proper sonic burst it deserves.

With the new album titled ‘The Farthest Reaches’ ready to be introduced to the world by Good Fight Music on Tuesday April 13th 2010, the band plans to embark on a schedule of relentless touring. With a live show that focuses on equal parts accuracy and audience engagement, it is a performance formula sure to win over the hearts of metal fans throughout the world. Like their namesake did many centuries ago, The SON OF AURELIUS are poised to leave their own mark on history.
