HERE WE GO AGENCY update

Hello everyone,

This year was my first time at SXSW, and I enjoyed 5 days filled with music, meeting people, listening to a couple of panels, and just overall having a fantastic time in Austin, TX. I used to not be a fan of conferences and big festivals, and avoided PopKomm and Midem back in Europe at all cost, but this trip has started shifting my way of thinking about these kind of gatherings. I have the feeling that there is a lot of connecting & sharing happening, people truly looking to help each other out, and aiming at growing a strong independent music community.

Working at record labels for the past 14+ years made me jaded. Even working for one of the more progressive, well meaning, band focused, and keeping activities as transparent as possible companies, made me feel disconnected from the bands. Especially in recent years I felt like being on the wrong side of the fence. Luckily with my departure from my last job that has all changed, I am soaking up knowledge on all the possibilities & tools out there to really connect with music, those creating it, and those listening to and loving it, and last but not least you all helping to spread the word. Thank you!

So, Here We Go with news and the latest addition to the family: Singer-songwriter Dandelion Snow aka Roger Harvey, Andrew Vladeck, and Joey Cape.

Dandelion Snow aka Roger Harvey is a young singer-songwriter rooted in the alternative folk-scene. His new album called ‘The Grand Scheme Of Things’ was produced by Chris #2 of Anti-Flag and will be out in June. We will have a track and video from the new album up and out soon, but for now please let Roger introduce himself:

‘The Grand Scheme Of Things’ is as eclectic of an album as its title entails, from the multi-instrumental traveling songs to the more bare-boned internally driven acoustic songs. Our vision for this record was to reinvent the original songs I had, by pulling them out of their context and into uncharted water. I think in doing so the end result is a very diverse record that we’re very happy with. I made the record in a small town in Pennsylvania, outside of Pittsburgh, with some very dear friends of mine. Chris #2 that plays in Anti-Flag produced and engineered the album. We put together a good team of great friends with our eyes set on making an impactive independent release and I am very excited to be working with Big Bullet Records, Here We Go Agency, and The Lock & Key Collective to ensure that this release is just that. Overall, I think everyone involved is really excited to get the record out into the community and into as many people’s ears as possible.

“Hot-wired folk” musician Andrew Vladeck is playing shows in New York and Philadelphia in the coming weeks. His album ‘The Wheel’ has gained more momentum in Europe and the UK thanks to all your support! Sonic Rendezvous & Cargo are distributing it, and radio play, reviews and blog posts have been pouring in. First tour dates for Europe in September are booked and will be announced soon. Vladeck is currently working on new songs for an upcoming EP, collaborating with friends in the beautiful community and scenery of Brooklyn, NY. Please sign up for his newsletter via his website for news straight from him.

Joey Cape returned from tour in Europe, the UK, and Japan, is now getting ready for Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, and has managed to post another truly home-grown video going with ‘It’s Always Sunny’, the latest and third track of his ‘Doesn’t Play Well With Others’ album which is growing song by song throughout the year of 2010.

‘Liverbirds’, a split album he recorded with Jon Snodgrass (Armchair Martian & Drag the River) was available on the recent European/UK tour. Having played many shows together, Joey & Jon recorded ‘Liverbirds’ to capture the atmosphere of them performing live on each other’s songs. It will be available via www.Joeycape.com in May.

Thanks, Willow aka Wiebke

Amber Pacific nu release

AMBER PACIFIC ‘VIRTUES’

Release date: April 13, 2010

An Anthem For The Young At Heart

The Girl Who Destroys

Three Words

Shine

What Matters Most

Conviction

The Good Life

The Best Mistakes

We Can’t Fake This

Burden’s Of The Past

Something To Be Said

Forever

AMBER PACIFIC, does that name sound familiar? Well it should! Starting off as just a group of friends in Seattle, Washington simply wanting to follow in the footsteps of their heroes Blink 182, New Found Glory, The Starting Line, and Jimmy Eat World, AMBER PACIFIC quickly became one of the most talked about young bands of the genre. They took the US by storm stealing the show at both Bamboozles, performing on four consecutive Van’s Warped Tours, selling 150,000 in the US alone…but…where did they go?

Who cares! The important thing is that they’re back with a brand new vocalist, second guitarist, and a new record, ‘Virtues’. The songwriting, created primarily by founding member, Will Nutter, has grown tremendously and while the last record, ‘Truth In Sincerity’, hinted that the band could write commercial rock songs, this record proves AMBER PACIFIC v2.0 is on a whole new level.

AMBER PACIFIC will be releasing brand new songs off the upcoming album exclusively on www.AmberPacific.org along with daily special video content.

Get ready for the return of…AMBER PACIFIC.

Deez Nuts in Italia

DEEZ NUTS: 2 SHOW IN ITALIA E NUOVO ALBUM!

01/05 Vidia, Cesena con I Am Ghost, The Ghost Inside, Confide, Eyes Set To Kill, Awaken Demons, Break Even, Lower Than Atlantis
02/05 Land Of Live, Legnano (MI) con The Ghost Inside, Awaken Demons, Break Even.

Clichè – Resume – mostra e tour

Résumé, Cliché Skateboards

Mackenzie Eisenhour, Ginko Press, 316 pagine, inglese

www.gingkopress.com

15 Aprile : Seregno @ Society Plaza
16 Aprile : Milano @ Bastard Store & Bowl per il Cliche Resumè Show
17 Aprile : Bergamo @ Polaresco Bowl

Charming Baker art exhibition

Art Is The New Rock and Roll As Green Day Manager Brings UK Painter CHARMING BAKER To New York For Solo Show STUPID HAS A NEW HERO Opens May 14 And Runs Through May 30 At NYSG on New York’s Lower East Side Private View Scheduled For May 13

Art has always has always been a comfortable bedfellow with rock music. Think Elvis and Warhol, John and Yoko, hip hop and graffiti. But is art now turning into the new rock and roll itself? Pat Magnarella, the man behind rock giants Green Day, is putting his hugely successful management experience behind a fast-rising UK painter called Charming Baker. Magnarella – who also manages The Goo Goo Dolls and Oscar winning singer songwriter Ryan Bingham – explains the reason behind the move: “I want to use my experience with guiding and nurturing the careers of musicians to create a similar platform for talented artists. And Charming’s talent is undeniable.”

The relationship has already borne fruit with a controversial video, shot in the style of a music promo, to publicize the artist’s work. And, like the best rock and rollers, Charming Baker comes armed with his own brand of notoriety. Along with a paintbrush, the artist also drills, saws and shoots his paintings. A film of Charming blasting one of his works with a shotgun has become cult viewing on YouTube. “I don’t think that shooting a painting should necessarily take away any part of its decorative appeal,” comments Charming. “If anything it becomes a conversation piece.”

Charming’s upcoming show in New York will feature a painting of Michelle Obama with her face sawn off and stitched back together. The artist will also invite members of the public to crucify themselves with a full-size interactive painting of Christ’s cross. Asked to describe his work, Charming says: “The effect I’m aiming for is that slightly unnerving feeling you get when you have your arse patted in public – but you’re not exactly sure who’s patting it”. Adds Pat Magnarella: “Charming’s work is as playful as his attitude. His skill with a paintbrush, however, is awesome.” Art meets controversy: how very rock and roll.

Charming Baker’s New York Show, STUPID HAS A NEW HERO, opens May 14 and runs through May 30 at NYSG, 154 Stanton Street (@ Suffolk) on New York’s Lower East Side. The Private View is 13 May.

More about Charming Baker:

Artist Charming Baker grew up in army camps around the world. His father was a British commando who taught his son to shoot and hunt. A prodigious art talent Charming was painting at the age of 6.
Settling in working class Yorkshire in the north of England, Baker left school at 15 to work on farms and dig roads. At 21 he was accepted by London’s prestigious Central St Martins College of Art. A mistrust of the gallery system and an aversion to the pretensions of the art world meant Charming kept his work close to home. He shunned the traditional exhibition route, preferring to sell his work from his South London apartment. Charming returned to Central St Martins as a lecturer and took commercial work for several high profile clients including LA Times, Esquire, New York Times, Dazed & Confused, The Guardian, the BBC. What spare time was left was spent painting. In 2006 a collector persuaded Charming to put on an independent exhibition. The result was a sell-out show at The Truman Brewery in London’s East End, with one buyer snapping up five pieces before the exhibition opened. It was the first of a string of sell-out shows. In 2008 Charming was invited to share a discussion platform with Shepard Fairey, Barak Obama’s choice of artist. And last year Charming was commissioned by Amnesty International to produce a painting for the Blank Canvas Project alongside Brit Art giants Tracy Emin, the Chapman Brothers and Sir Peter Blake. Baker’s work now sells worldwide. He is embraced by the fine art fraternity, music royalty, taste makers and captains of the creative community. Last summer’s sell-out solo show in London’s Shoreditch was filmed by the BBC for its prime-time news slot.

KANI
‘Rockabeast’-CD
(Nicotine)

(X-Man)

THE ICE
‘Touching The Void’-CD
(Countdown)

(Flavio Ignelzi)

RISE TO FALL
‘Restore The Balance’-CD
(Coroner)

(Flavio Ignelzi)

NEMESI
‘L’Alba Dei Morti Viventi’-CD
(Rude)

Complimenti.

TAPROOT’S NEW SINGLE, “FRACTURED (EVERYTHING I SAID WAS TRUE)”, OFF UPCOMING RELEASE, PLEAD THE FIFTH, TO PREMIERE TODAY ON MYSPACE

It’s been two years since Michigan’s own TAPROOT released their last album, ‘Our Long Road Home’, but the wait is finally over. ‘Plead The Fifth’, the band’s upcoming release, is scheduled to hit shelves on May 11, 2010. Out on Victory Records, this album proves to draw more from their debut, making it heavier and more aggressive, but holding tight to the melodic style they were once known for. Their first single, ‘Fractured (Everything I Said Was True)’, is available for streaming today on the band’s MySpace (www.myspace.com/taproot), as well as on YouTube.
Last weekend, the band filmed a music video for the single, which will make its online debut on Thursday, April 15th at Yahoo! Music. With today presenting opportunities for April Fool’s pranks, the label assures fans that the pre-order package of their new album, ‘Plead The Fifth’, and a brand new TAPROOT t-shirt is really available at www.victoryrecords.com

ABOUT TAPROOT:
From day one, TAPROOT created a smarter, deeper style of post-hardcore and heavy melodic rock. Inspired by the likes of Deftones, Helmet and Tool, they demonstrated how heavy music can still be emotionally intense and accessible to the masses. Their debut in 2000 was welcomed with open arms and allowed them to become one of the last decade’s top heavy rock artists. Selling over 900,000 albums, doing countless tour with Disturbed, Chevelle and Incubus, TAPROOT have proven that they are a true leader in their genre. The band is very proud to announce the release of their fifth and most powerful album, ‘Plead The Fifth’. Partnered with independent label leaders, Victory Records, TAPROOT is fired up to take over the rock spectrum. ‘Plead The Fifth’ combines all of the elements that their fans have come to expect from the band with an updated take on their style of heavy rock. It’s a fantastic new chapter in the history of this outstanding band.
