HERE WE GO AGENCY update
Hello everyone,
This year was my first time at SXSW, and I enjoyed 5 days filled with music, meeting people, listening to a couple of panels, and just overall having a fantastic time in Austin, TX. I used to not be a fan of conferences and big festivals, and avoided PopKomm and Midem back in Europe at all cost, but this trip has started shifting my way of thinking about these kind of gatherings. I have the feeling that there is a lot of connecting & sharing happening, people truly looking to help each other out, and aiming at growing a strong independent music community.
Working at record labels for the past 14+ years made me jaded. Even working for one of the more progressive, well meaning, band focused, and keeping activities as transparent as possible companies, made me feel disconnected from the bands. Especially in recent years I felt like being on the wrong side of the fence. Luckily with my departure from my last job that has all changed, I am soaking up knowledge on all the possibilities & tools out there to really connect with music, those creating it, and those listening to and loving it, and last but not least you all helping to spread the word. Thank you!
So, Here We Go with news and the latest addition to the family: Singer-songwriter Dandelion Snow aka Roger Harvey, Andrew Vladeck, and Joey Cape.
Dandelion Snow aka Roger Harvey is a young singer-songwriter rooted in the alternative folk-scene. His new album called ‘The Grand Scheme Of Things’ was produced by Chris #2 of Anti-Flag and will be out in June. We will have a track and video from the new album up and out soon, but for now please let Roger introduce himself:
‘The Grand Scheme Of Things’ is as eclectic of an album as its title entails, from the multi-instrumental traveling songs to the more bare-boned internally driven acoustic songs. Our vision for this record was to reinvent the original songs I had, by pulling them out of their context and into uncharted water. I think in doing so the end result is a very diverse record that we’re very happy with. I made the record in a small town in Pennsylvania, outside of Pittsburgh, with some very dear friends of mine. Chris #2 that plays in Anti-Flag produced and engineered the album. We put together a good team of great friends with our eyes set on making an impactive independent release and I am very excited to be working with Big Bullet Records, Here We Go Agency, and The Lock & Key Collective to ensure that this release is just that. Overall, I think everyone involved is really excited to get the record out into the community and into as many people’s ears as possible.
“Hot-wired folk” musician Andrew Vladeck is playing shows in New York and Philadelphia in the coming weeks. His album ‘The Wheel’ has gained more momentum in Europe and the UK thanks to all your support! Sonic Rendezvous & Cargo are distributing it, and radio play, reviews and blog posts have been pouring in. First tour dates for Europe in September are booked and will be announced soon. Vladeck is currently working on new songs for an upcoming EP, collaborating with friends in the beautiful community and scenery of Brooklyn, NY. Please sign up for his newsletter via his website for news straight from him.
Joey Cape returned from tour in Europe, the UK, and Japan, is now getting ready for Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, and has managed to post another truly home-grown video going with ‘It’s Always Sunny’, the latest and third track of his ‘Doesn’t Play Well With Others’ album which is growing song by song throughout the year of 2010.
‘Liverbirds’, a split album he recorded with Jon Snodgrass (Armchair Martian & Drag the River) was available on the recent European/UK tour. Having played many shows together, Joey & Jon recorded ‘Liverbirds’ to capture the atmosphere of them performing live on each other’s songs. It will be available via www.Joeycape.com in May.
Thanks, Willow aka Wiebke
