DC SHOES EUROPE PRESENTS BURNING INK ART SHOW “ALL THE DRAWINGS WILL BE BURNT AT THE END OF THE SHOW”

Following on from the success of the Burning Ink event in Paris, New York City and Berlin, DC Europe is proud to be launching the 4th edition of the Burning Ink art show in London (Beach Gallery, 20 Cheshire Street, E2), from the 13th to the 31st of March 2012 in partnership with Kids love Ink Custom Tattooing owned by the very talented Charlie Shazer. Bringing together a unique selection of world-renowned street artists, graphic designers and illustrators, Burning Ink is a crossover event between the worlds of fine arts and tattoos. Previous editions artists were: Ssur, SBTG, Jeykill, Supakitch, Koralie, Xghetto666, Prunelle, Scien+Klor & Dean (123klan), Marok, Spoe, Jef & Kostek @La Boucherie Moderne, Chloe Trujillo and more… curated by Erwann Lameignère. The concept is as radical and unique as before: all the handmade drawings designed by selected artists will be burnt at the end of the show. A very different concept to an ordinary art show, no one can go home with the art in its hands. The only way for the drawings to survive the flames is to be bought and inked into the buyers’ skin, making each design a unique tattoo. The first edition of Burning Ink was held in Paris at Jeykill’s “Bleu Noir”, the tattoo parlor/gallery in Durantin street, Paris 18th. New York’s Burning Ink took place in Frank’s Chop shop, an incredible barber shop, managed by a young team of creative blades, located in the Lower east side, at Essex street, 19. Berlin’s burning ink took place in the downtown venue and wellknown MadeMyDay collabroom, located at Torstrasse, 66 not far from Alexander Platz.

We’ve hooked up UK surfer Charlotte Bayliss from Jersey into the Nikita fold. She’s studying a Physiotherapy Degree at Cardiff University and is a member of the Jersey Surfboard club, the uni’s surf club and part of the new initiative, Student Surf Tour which she won in 2011. This January she placed 2nd in the SST leaving her top of the league. Amazing twins surfing down under –

Bjorn Johnston Now Riding For SUPRA And KR3W

Wednesday, February 1, Fountain Valley, CA—ONE Distribution is pleased to announce that Bjorn Johnston is the newest member of the KR3W and SUPRA Australian teams. “Bjorn has been a long time friend of mine and of the teams for years,” said Dennis Martin. “He’s been killing it ever since I first met him and he totally fits in with our style.”
Bjorn was born and raised in New Zealand, and four years ago moved to Australia where he’s had a steady presence in the magazines and is never far from the top of the heap in contests. Bjorn doesn’t have any VB or Vegemite tattoos, but he does have his family crest and some battleships inked on his body in homage to his Nordic heritage. His skateboard roots run just as deep: he has a tattoo of a picture from the 70s of his dad doing a handstand on a skateboard. “When the chance to ride for KR3W and SUPRA came up,” Bjorn said, “I couldn’t have been more psyched. I had met and skated with a bunch of the team before, always thought the product was cool. Co-pilot Jan Mihm formed a group of 11 lipstick specialists whose cosmetic background is more than questionable at first sight. Some of them don’t even use shampoo. Soccer players, photographers, gastronomes, galerists, designers, skaters, you name it. Great. Aside from their fondness for the ladies, they all share another quality: all of the 11 live and/or work on Torstrasse in Berlin. Her style is instantly recognizable, with a strong use of organic shapes and bold colours. TSUBO MEN’S SPRING 2012 – Available this month!

Los Angeles, January 10, 2012 – Tsubo’s Spring 2012 men’s collection marks the “return of the gentleman” while putting a modern twist on classic dress casual styles. Materials include soft, thick leathers, rich suedes, and hand-finished leathers. Standouts of the season include the Prospero, Hesperia, Kreiken, and Wexler II. A modern take on classic styling, they look like dress shoes but wear like sneakers. The Prospero (a slip on dress shoe with waxy suede uppers) and the Hesperia (an open-laced derby shoe with pebbled leather uppers) both feature long wing styling, crepe outsoles, and single-density PU foot beds. The Kreiken, a brogue shoe with Velcro closures, features premium hand-buffed leather uppers and dual-density PU foot beds. The popular Wexler II, a cap toe oxford brogue built much like the Kreiken, showcases Tsubo’s craftsmanship with stitched welts and hand-burnished leather uppers. Every Tsubo product is designed with comfort as the main focus. All styles feature contoured PU foot beds, flexible outsole design, and EVA midsoles that provide added cushioning, durability, and day-to-night comfort. The Spring 2012 collection will be available starting this month.

Per effetto dell’avvenuta acquisizione da parte di Billabong International del brand di abbigliamento RVCA, cambia la distribuzione dei prodotti del marchio di Costa Mesa (California) per l’Italia. A partire dal 1° gennaio 2012, infatti, è la Funnel di Calenzano (Firenze) a gestire le vendite ed il marketing per RVCA sul territorio italiano. Funnel è il partner storico di GSM Europe avendone seguito sin dagli esordi lo sviluppo di tutti i brand in portafoglio (Billabong, Element, Von Zipper, DaKine, tra gli altri). La società toscana guidata da Boris Carli affronta il nuovo incarico con grande determinazione. L’obiettivo è quello di dare al brand emergente il supporto necessario per essere apprezzato in ambiti sempre più ampi, senza perdere in credibilità. Una vocazione confermata dalle precedenti esperienze con marchi quali Billabong, Element e tutti gli altri di proprietà di GSM Group. L’attività di Funnel inizierà con il sell-in della collezione Autunno/Inverno 2011-12 e sarà coordinata da Marco Bagnoli nel ruolo di sales manager. The National Coalition for the Homeless (NCH) is a national network of people who are committed to a single mission – ending homelessness. Committed to creating the systemic and attitudinal changes necessary to prevent and end homelessness, NCH is working to meet the immediate needs of people who are currently experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of doing so. Additionally, they take as their first principle of practice that people who are currently experiencing homelessness or have formerly experienced homelessness must be actively involved in all of their work. Toward this end, the National Coalition for the Homeless (NCH) engages in public education, policy advocacy, and grassroots organizing, focusing specifically on the following 4 areas: housing justice, economic justice, health care justice, and civil rights.

Air, Rail, Train: tutte le strade portano a Innsbruck

Peetu Piiroinen, Werner Stock, Sebastien Toutant, Seppe Smits, Mark McMorris, Sage Kotsenburg, Roope Tonteri, Nils Arvidsson, Clemens Schattschneider, Tom Klocker, e Torgreir Bergrem sono solo alcuni dei rider che non mancheranno allo storico appuntamento a Innsbruck per il Billabong Air & Style, da anni riconosciuto come il „must be there“ event di tutta la stagione invernale. A farne da contorno il ritorno dello Snow Festival ed il nuovissimo Raiffeisen Club-Partytrain da Vienna a Innsbruck. Innsbruck è la hometown europea dello snowboarding senza pari e anche quest’anno è garantito l’arrivo di giovani folks da tutto il mondo per assistere al Billabong Air & Style dal 3 al 5 Febbraio 2012.
Starting field senza precedenti.
E’ difficile dare un ordine d’importanza ai nomi già confermati nello starting field, a partire dal vincitore della scorsa edizione Mark McMorris (CAN) seguito dal TTR World Champion Peetu Piiroinen (FIN), Seb Toutant (CAN), Seppe Smits (BEL), Sage Kotsenburg (USA) e Roope Tonteri (FIN). L’ospite di casa Werner Stock cercherà di scalare il podio dell’anno scorso mentre i suoi “fellowcountrymen” Tom Klocker, Clemens Schattschneider e Peter König si batteranno per la qualifica al main contest. La colonna sonora sarà 100% di stirpe germanica a partire dal rapper austriaco Sido seguito dai rockers Beatsteaks di Berlino. I due generi musicali contrastanti faranno muovere testa e piedi a tutti i fans che già si stanno preparando al grande evento allo stadio Bergisel. Musica, snowboarding e show ad un prezzo imbattibile: il biglietto costa solo 43€ e molti di noi se lo troveranno sotto l’albero come perfetto regalo di Natale!
Raiffeisen Club-Partytrain da Vienna a Innsbruck: party senza sosta dall’inizio alla fine.
Mentre molti dei nostri rider arriveranno volando da ogni angolo del globo il maggior numero dei fan del Billabong Air & Style lo farà con il treno e li aspetta una festa niente male: il leggendario Partytrain con dj set e vagoni trasformati in mini disco porterà i fan a destinazione in completa sicurezza e nel puro divertimento. Il treno partirà da Vienna alle 6 di mattina e porterà vagonate di musica e party in diverse stazioni (St.Pölten, Linz, Wels, Vöcklabruck e Salzburg); un vero e proprio afterhours per i più appassionati a soli 98€!

Per tutti quelli desiderosi di rails & party la festa avrà inizio già da venerdì grazie al Burn Fire & Steel Rail al quale seguirà il concerto dei The Heavy e tutto a costo zero!! Lo Snow Festival offre anche attività per gli appassionati di winter sport “non più così giovani” che saranno accompagnati dai propri figli: grazie al supporto di Burton lo Snow Festival darà la possibilità ai più piccoli di provare il loro primo snowboard in tutta sicurezza grazie al Burton Learn to Ride program.
