Ahead of the re-release of latest album, ‘Imperial’ — complete with two brand new tracks — Carol City’s Denzel Curry has shared visuals for a new remix of album track, ‘Knotty Head’…

…featuring rising UK grime star, AJ Tracey, and Rick Ross. ‘Imperial’ sees Denzel, who graced XXL’s influential Freshman cover earlier this year, breakout as a star, beating the odds and his depression to make his own, deeply idiosyncratic brand of punk-rap music. An ode to his trademark, knotted up dreadlocks, ‘Knotty Head’ itself is an album calling card and in AJ Tracey — recently announced as earning a place on the coveted BBC Sound Of 2017 list — and long time co-signer Rick Ross, Curry has enlisted two of the best lyricists from either side of the pond. Shot on location outside West London’s Trellick Tower — a cult, government-listed building and a standout example of 1970’s brutalist, inner-city architecture — the video features Denzel and AJ exchanging verses in a basketball court, interspersed by footage of Denzel’s recent headline UK show at London’s Jazz Cafe, with the tower looming over them in the background. Directed by Mornix, who was also behind videos for recent AJ Tracey singles ‘Leave Me Alone’, ’Buster Cannon’ and ‘Pasta’, the ‘Knotty Head’ Remix visuals capture a gritty, lived-in aesthetic but also the transatlantic merging of killer, lyrical styles.
