GT Bicycles x RAD collaborate to make Cru Jones as a 29″ Pro Series BMX
On Tuesday 15 Feb at 9AM EST, GT Bicycles releases an all-new 29” Pro Series BMX bike in partnership with the RAD Movie, an iconic BMX classic celebrating its 35th anniversary.
It’s a timeless tale of a hometown kid taking on the best in the world and beating the odds. To celebrate, GT has created a bike in the likeness of the movie’s main character Cru Jones – the bike is a partnership that combines the trendsetting appeal of the era in pop culture with the booming BMX market.
Originally released in 1986 during the rise of the BMX bike craze, RAD is a powerful piece of pop cultural nostalgia that follows Cru Jones (Bill Allen) a small townkid determined to win an infamous BMX race set on a nearly impossible course known as Helltrack. RAD has become one of the most iconic cult films of the 1980s and amongst BMX professionals, spawning fan clubs and repertory film screenings for decades. RAD, presented by Jack Schwartzman and Schwartzman Pictures Inc., stars Bill Allen, Lori Laughlin, Talia Shire, Bart Conner, Jack Weston and Ray Walston. The film was directed by Hal Needham (‘Smokey And The Bandit’, ‘The Cannonball Run’), written by Sam Bernard and Geoffrey Edwards, produced by Robert L. Levy (‘Wedding Crashers’) and executive produced by Jack Schwartzman (‘Being There’, ‘Never Say Never Again’). To watch RAD.
