Earlier this month, Bad Time Records announced a unique split 7-inch slated for release on June 5th.

The four song EP pairs Philadelphia’s soul-ska outfit, Catbite with East Bay’s newest ska-punk trio Omnigone – featuring members of the beloved late 90′s ska-core band Link 80. Both bands released their debut albums on the California indie label, Bad Time Records, last year and quickly developed a fond appreciation of each others music. To celebrate their new found e-friendship, each band decided to cover one another and put their personal touch on it. Additionally, Omnigone recorded an updated version of Link 80′s ‘Nothing New’ while Catbite recorded a cover of the classic Clash tune ‘White Riot’. Omnigone has teamed up with The Fest to present their new and improved version of ‘Nothing New’. The band will be appearing at the beloved annual punk festival this October so get familiar with the song now so you can shout along. “One of the first questions we got about Omnigone was “Are you going to play Link 80 songs?” Everyone knows ‘Nothing New’ as a Link 80 song, but it was originally a Blast Bandits song, Barry’s old ska-punk band. I have a cassette tape of early Blast Bandits songs that I’ve nearly worn out from years of abuse. ‘Nothing New’ is one of my all time favorite ska-punk songs. Barry & I have been playing the song for years. Now it’s an Omnigone song.” – Adam Davis (Omnigone).
