THE B&E INVITATIONAL – #3rd EDITION MARCH 11 & 12, 2016 – LES ARCS, FRANCE
In 2014, Phil Casabon (CAN) and Henrik Harlaut (SWE), an indivisible pair of freeskiing stars, created a never before seen concept by building a completely original course and inviting the world’s best freeskiers…
…to join them for an epic shred session. After a successful second edition in 2015, the B&E Invitational is back with another incredible roster of VIP riders and even more epic live-music acts. 2016 Teaser:
MORE THAN A CONTEST, A TRUE STATE OF MIND
The first two editions of the B&E Invitational were an incredible success, cementing the event’s central role in the evolution of freeskiing. In 2015, over 5,000 spectators onsite and 50,000 unique viewers online tuned in to watch these elite athletes push their creativity and skiing levels to new heights. The goal, as always, is to bring freeskiing into a new era, one without rules and formats, one that is free from all of which currently dictates freeski events, and one that can put FREESKIING in the spotlight without the pressure. This is where skiing is FREE…
As with the last two editions, Henrik & Phil are raising the bar and have designed an even bigger and more creative course, offering the riders infinite options to display their own individual style. Set in the heart of Arcs 1800, the B&E Invitational course is a true Skatepark on snow with totally original features. Unlike previous years, this year’s massive course is top-secret and will only be unveiled to the riders and spectators during the event’s first training session. Some new facts and figures:
easier spectator viewing
requires 45,000 m3 of snow
3 weeks of shaping
15 professional shapers, 2x 15ton cranes, 2 snowcats (250hr)
bigger air time
every kind of transfer imaginable
To celebrate its third edition, the B&E Invitational 2016 will be available online thanks to its many media partners, including On Rewind TV, an interactive HD live streaming platform. Not only will online viewers be able to watch all of the action go down live from the comfort of their own homes, but they will also be able to comment, share, tag, and relive every trick, grab, and air, giving them the full B&E Invitational experience in real-time.
The live stream will take place on Saturday March 12th between 3:00pm and 6:30pm French time (6:30am-9:30am PCT).
THE FORMAT: JUDGED BY THE RIDERS
As with previous years, the riders will judge themselves, rewarding Fair Play and Overall impressions over everything else. After the 4 sessions, the riders will determine the winners of “Best Style”, “Best Trick”, “Best Line”, and “Best Overall”. Style, creativity, and degree of difficulty will be the leading criteria the riders will use to judge. The Public Choice Award An online voting platform will be available during the lifestream, giving the public onsite and viewers online a chance to vote and reward their favorite rider with the “Best Viewer’s Choice Award”.
For Phil and Henrik, music has always been essential to their skiing. To highlight this, the B&E Invitational 2016 will host more music than ever. Following Masta Killa’s incredible performance in 2015, the B&E Invitational will welcome another of Wu-Tang Clan’s infamous artists for a legendary hip-hop performance. For electro fans out there, Walshy Fire from the world renowned group Major Lazer will also be taking the B&E Invitational stage at the new Mille8 venue. If that wasn’t enough, there will be additional performances throughout the event with the Ventilofest and DJ talents in the heart of Arc 1800.
