Salad Days

‘Translucent’ is an instrumental project by Dion Brown aka Cool D, a seasoned beat-maker representing the South Side of Chicago.

This album finds Brown experimenting with sound through a jazz based lens where his knowledge of and intimacy with the genre shines bright, as his arrangements span from swing era piano chops to syncopating later era fusion and smooth jazz selections. Always jazzy but never predictable, ‘Translucent’ is a heady production that largely abandons formulaic boom-bap and invites the listener on a journey through the beautiful mind of a modern jazz-man. Born in Chicago, Illinois 4/1/1975. Was first introduced to Hip-Hop at an early age of 11 years old. Started to gain confidence by break-dancing in the the 1980′s started to listen to jazz and later started making Casio beat tapes in 1988.
