Unleash The Beast – ‘Come With Us – Episode 4: Adolf Silva’
Salad Days

Meet Adolf Silva. Fearless; fast; and one of Freestyle Mountain Biking’s biggest senders. Always ready to push the boundaries of what’s possible on two wheels.

Riding is more than just a sport for this 23 year old from Barcelona, Spain, it’s a way of life. Hitch a wild ride with Silva in episode four of Monster Energy’s Come With Us series.

“I think, if you just don’t think about things; you ride better, and do everything better” explains Adolf. “For me the main point when I’m riding is to have fun and go crazy. Knowing that every day I can improve and grow with this sport motivates me. I know it’s great to make history and be recognised by people but I really just live to enjoy what I do. I’m not going to stop, even though what we do is super dangerous; we are jumping off ramps that are like 20 meters high. But if you want to progress you have to try new stuff; and if you try new stuff, you have to crash…”

A true lifestyle action sports athlete, Silva is a perfect storm of two different worlds. Chilled out when he’s not riding, and utterly relentless when he’s on the bike. Silva’s career has already encompassed dizzying highs and total lows – not least when at age 17, he spent just over two weeks in a coma due to a crash; only to bounce back from injury to land the first ever triple backflip on a Slopestyle bike.

“When I was 17, I had a pretty bad crash. I was riding BMX,” continued Silva. “Basically just after the first jump there was a berm, and my front tire slipped, and I crashed hard onto my back. My kidney exploded. I was in a coma for like 15 days, but then I woke up and started to get better… so everything went pretty good from there. Then about a year and a half ago I broke my femur in four places, and I was in crutches for eight months. It was super tough. Seeing everyone else riding, and knowing you just have to wait and recover was one of the toughest things for me. But I always try to push the limits, I guess I have no fear. I don’t see the risk; I only see the reward!”
