Chaser release ‘My Promise’ lyric video 7″ ‘Gonna Be Alright’ out now
Southern California skate punk veterans have released a brand-new lyric video alongside the arrival of their limited edition ‘Gonna Be Alright’ 7-inch.
Created by @fluidcovers, the video accompanies a newly reimagined version of one of the band’s most beloved songs. Originally released as an acoustic track on 2010′s ‘The Big Picture’, single has been transformed into a soaring melodic skate punk anthem while preserving the deeply personal message at its core. While the band continues work on its next full-length album, 7″ serves as a special release ahead of an extensive summer tour of Europe, Canada, and the United States. The two-song 7-inch pairs the reimagined ‘My Promise’ with an energetic punk rock interpretation of Bob Marley‘s timeless classic ‘Three Little Birds’ — two songs connected by themes of hope, family, positivity, and perseverance.
“We are so excited to share this release” the band says. “While we’re not quite ready for a new full-length yet, we wanted to put something really cool out before our tours this summer. These songs came out amazing and we know people are going to sing along with them at the shows.”
“I wrote ‘My Promise’ for my daughter when she was born in 2006″ explains vocalist Mike LeDonne. “It’s a heartfelt song about protecting the ones you love and always being there to guide them through life. Twenty years later, this reimagined melodic punk version captures a new perspective on parenthood. The lyrics and message are as pure today as they were then.”
The flip side features band’s uplifting take on Bob Marley’s ‘Three Little Birds’ transforming the beloved reggae classic into a high-energy melodic skate punk singalong without losing the optimism that made the original so enduring.
“When my son was born, the first song I sang to him in the hospital was Bob Marley’s ‘Three Little Birds’” says bassist Jesse Stopnitzky. “So we reimagined it as an upbeat punk rock version, adding our thumbprint while preserving its message of positivity, hope, and unity, which are the ethos of our band and live shows. Built for summer, this high-energy nostalgic singalong is a feel-good reminder that everything’s gonna be alright. It seems we can all use some good vibes right now.”
Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Paul Miner at Buzzbomb Studios in Orange, California, 7″ showcases artwork from renowned punk artists Mark De Salvo and Samuel Lucas, whose contrasting visual styles are united by themes of hope, light, and positivity. Homegrown in the heart of Southern California, Mike LeDonne (vocals), Jesse Stopnitzky (bass/vocals), Bill Hockmuth (guitar), and Davey Guy (drums) — have spent years carrying the torch for melodic skate punk through relentless touring and an unwaveringly positive message. Since 2018, the band has performed throughout Europe, Canada, and the United States, appearing at festivals including Brakrock Eco Fest, Envol Macadam, Jera On Air, Punk Rock Holiday, and Punk In The Park. With this, group deliver more than a stopgap between albums. The new 7-inch and the lyric video offer a powerful reminder of the band’s enduring strengths: heartfelt songwriting, infectious melodies, and a belief that even in difficult times, music can bring people together. Vinyl copies of the ‘Gonna Be Alright’ 7-inch are available now at Chaser shows and online.
