Explores relationships, loss, and the state of the world on new full-length, arriving August 7 in partnership with Rad Girlfriend Records. Loud, fast, and fun, The Sleights specialize in punk songs that pair dark lyrics with bright, driving hooks. Lead songwriter Luke Blanton spent years working the infrastructure of other bands’ tours — managing, loading gear, selling merch, filling in wherever needed before deciding to redirect that energy into his own band.

“I worked so many shows and filled in for so many bands that at one point it hit me, why the hell am I not doing this with MY band?” says Blanton. “I started saying no to offers and jumped back into Sleights mode 100%.”

The result has been a sustained explosion of productivity. In the past 18 months, band have played 75-plus shows across the western US and recorded two LPs, two EPs, and a split — all out of Colorado Springs, a location that demands real work to turn into a touring advantage. “Colorado, while amazing, is 8 hours from anywhere” says Blanton. “We are used to starting a weekend run or tour with a 9-10 hour drive. Somehow we have gotten used to it.” LP is the follow-up to 2025′s ‘This One’s Gonna Hurt’ and features 11 new tracks that push the band’s sound forward. “We definitely aimed to level up this record both sonically and in terms of songwriting. I think it’s our best to date” says Blanton. That growth wasn’t purely musical. “We lost a dear friend suddenly right before we recorded it, while I was finishing songs, and the sadness, confusion, and the need to come together to heal was definitely soaked into the material” says Blanton. The new album is also the band’s most politically direct yet, something they’ve been hesitant to explore in the past. “Everything keeps getting worse for everyone I know and there is a palpable feeling of dread floating in the air. I’m pissed, I think most people are. There are a few songs vocalizing the growing stress many of us feel” says Blanton. ‘Wasted Time’ the only song the band has ever recorded in drop D tuning” Blanton recalls. “I had originally written the music for another band. It was one of those nights where three friends from other bands were at the bar and we were going to start a new project. The band never happened, but this song sure did. I pitched it to The Sleights and we made it our own — I love how it turned out.”
