Knumears release new 7″ single ‘Breaking Ground’
Join Run For Cover/Summer Shade and share pummeling new single. RIYL Pageninetynine, I Hate Myself, Jeromes Dream, Loma Prieta, Touche Amore.
Rising screamo classicists, Knumears, have joined Run For Cover Records and Summer Shade (the RFC imprint spearheaded by Fury’s Madison Woodward), and today the Los Angeles based three-piece are celebrating the announcement with the release of their new single ‘Breaking Ground’. Streaming everywhere and also available as a limited 7″ single, it is the perfect introduction to band’ harrowing blend of old school screamo and ferocious hardcore. The track explodes from the speakers and jolts the listener through bracing dynamic shifts that all lead up to a stunning scream-along finale. Since forming in 2018, band (guitarist/vocalist Matthew Cole, bassist/vocalist Dante Garcia II, and drummer Frankie Lopez) have been touring heavily and releasing a steady drip of heartrendingly compelling music. The band carries the torch for one of the most esoteric yet enduring corners of ’90s hardcore–whether you call it screamo, skramz, emoviolence, or whatever else, trio offer a fresh take on the chaos and catharsis that define this sound. Recorded by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Gouge Away, Loma Prieta) at Atomic Garden, ‘Breaking Ground’ is an intriguing hint at what’s to come from group. Stay tuned for more in 2026.
