Melodic metalcore act A Mourning Star release ‘Necessity Has Clipped My Wings’ EP through DAZE / Ephyra
Formed in 2021, Vancouver, Canada’s A Mourning Star are crafting dark, emotionally fraught melodic metalcore.
The band debuted with 2022’s ‘To See Your Beauty Fade’ EP with a two song promo later that year followed by 2023’s well-received ‘A Reminder Of The Wound Unhealed’ EP. Today the band return with the four song EP available through DAZE and Ephyra. Screamed and clean vocals cascade across brilliant riffs, haunting melodies, and heavy breakdowns. Guest vocals from Trench’s Jay Breen on ‘An Abundance’ and Seasons Worn’s Conner Elmes on ‘Painted Doors’ add another layer along Elijah Robinson’s standout delivery. On recording the EP, the band shares:
“Andre Urquidi, who was the engineer for this record and our last record, joined us when Ravi couldn’t make a tour, and he was such a good fit and also a long time friend of our drummer Byron already, that we said hey why don’t we just have three guitar players. His ability to write and also just make shit sound good is a huge part of our band now. Having three guitars we tried to utilize that in the writing and recording process and push the limits of what we could do but also keep it true to the core idea of the band. We have got some strong triple harmonies going on this time around.”
EP was recorded and mixed by Andre Urquidi, produced by A Mourning Star, and mastered by Stuart Mckillop.
Band is Elijah Robinson – Vocals, Christian Frizzelle – Lead Guitar, Tyler Peason – Bass, Byron Mayer – Drums, Ravi Bhatti – Rhythm Guitar, and Andre Urquidi – Rhythm Guitar.
