Since their last release four years ago, Florida-based band GILT have been honing in on their sound to create visceral, genre-blending earworms.

The self-described “Nu Emocore” band reveal new single out through Smartpunk Records, alongside a campy music video. Taking on a heavier tone, the track is full of nu-metal bounce, punishing metalcore chugs, and a classic 0-0-0-0 breakdown. Vocalist Asha Locke delivers intense screams that channel the feeling of being trapped. The video starts like a typical reaction video before heading into haunting territory set off by a potent performance by the band. The video was shot and edited by Ribshot Visuals and band with influencer Kace Valentine appearing. On the song and video, rhythm guitarist / vocalist Tyler Fieldhouse shares:

‘Seattle Day 2’ references the name of a bossfight with The Rat King in the popular The Last Of Us game series. It’s directly about succumbing to your worst self and is intended to feel inescapable. It comes with an accompanying classic core-era music video featuring influencer Kace Valentine in a campy horror subplot as a possessed Youtuber, linking to the album’s overall theme of media oversaturation and escapism.”

Band will perform at the official Smartpunk Records South by Southwest showcase at Hotel Vegas on March 17th and in Orlando, FL on March 21st supporting Capstan.

GILT is Asha Locke – vocals, Tyler Fieldhouse – vocals/rhythm guitar, Ali Reed – drums, Cameron Subic – lead guitar, and Woody – bass. Recorded bass on single by Tyler Peterson.

Upcoming Shows:

3/17 – Austin, TX @ Smartpunk Records SXSW showcase @ Hotel Vegas
3/21 – Orlando, FL @ The Abbey w/ Capstan, In Her Own Words, Dreamwake
