Power pop / Indie rock band Curious Volume share new single ‘Try’
Salad Days

Announce new lp ‘Nothing Is Good’ set for self-release out November 14th. The 11 tracks move through bold dynamics and quirky transitions with lyrics tackling the ups and downs of adulthood.

Power pop legend Roger Joseph Manning Jr. (Jellyfish, Beck) features on the album performing keyboards and back-up vocals, and it was recorded with Jon Smith and Ben Roth (You, Me, And Everyone We Know, PunchlIne) at The Kaleidoscope. Earlier this summer, band shared the reflective single ‘Former King’ and they now unveil the ambitious single ‘Try’. The song would appeal to fans of bands like Weatherbox and Motion City Soundtrack, with swirling guitar lines, funky notes and high pitched vocals. The upbeat track celebrates the times in lives when doing nothing leads to success. Further speaking on the album, the band shares:

“Song is meant to be taken both positively and negatively: -everything sucks- and -no news is good news-. Both could be equally intense sensations, in opposite directions. The main common themes among the songs’ lyrics is the emphasis on humor and perspective. While certain songs go all-in on sarcasm-soaked nihilism in an -accepting defeat- way, the album as a whole gives off the vibe of more of an overall appreciation for the things that puzzle us and don’t make obvious sense.”

They say we all return to our roots at some point, and for group that was a return to making music. The Staten Island, NY based band originally formed in 2003 as school friends, changed their name to Everything Ever along the way, put out several releases and toured across the US. Fast forward to 2018, a one off show, and the pandemic hitting, and urge to create came back into focus. At first it was just for fun, writing and playing between life, work, and growing families. Soon they had an album worth of material and ‘Nothing Is Good’ was born.

Curious Volume is dNo – vocals/guitar, Trotta – bass/vocals, Brian – guitar/keys/vocals, and Cole – drums.
