Bones Shredder releases debut album ‘Morbid Little Thing’ out now via Sunken Teeth Records
San Jose, CA September 19, 2025, Bones Shredder the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Randy Moore is huge and chunky.
This debut is the sound of everything he has been through shoved into a blender – all the power-pop melodies, punk spirit, horror imagery and harmonized leads – pureed down to a hearty pulp. “I pulled from all corners of my musical taste” Moore says. “The mantra of the record was being 100% myself, for myself. Doing things that I think are cool.” Album thrills in seeking out the shadows in everyday life. Zombies, vampires, and all kinds of changelings populate its ten tales. But the real monsters are often just people – relationships that morph into something disconcerting and hard to name. “Lyrically, a lot of the album deals with relationships with people, and how people can turn into the monsters that you’re warned about—but it’s just everyday people. How scary and unnerving that can be. I never see you in the daylight, you always disappear” Moore sings on lead single ‘Daylight’ a darkly thrilling power-pop anthem in the style of Fountains Of Wayne or Ozma (the latter particularly when the harmonized guitars kick in). At other times, Moore shows how easy it is for anyone to play the role of the monster, as on the vampiric pop of ‘Let Me In’ or the playfully barbaric ‘Pulling Teeth’ (a song particularly informed by Moore’s time as a sideman with 2/3s of Alkaline Trio). Recorded in a two-week sprint at District Recording Studio in San Jose with producer Henry Chadwick (Teens In Trouble), LP blends Moore’s love of ’60s AM pop, punk grit, and horror-tinged imagery into tightly wound anthems. Though Bones Shredder is primarily a solo endeavor, Moore enlists brother Dylan Moore on drums, and Sim Castro and Nick O’Connor on keys.
