MikeyWhiskeyHands Signs To Velocity Records – First Single ‘Get Your Mind Right’ Available April 3rd – Sample the Track and Watch a Signing Announcement Video on Alternative Press

MikeyWhiskeyHands, the hip hop alter-ego of Mike Fuentes, drummer in San Diego rock outfit Pierce The Veil, has signed with Velocity Records. The first single ‘Get Your Mind Right’ won’t be available until April 3rd, but you can stream a sample of the track and watch a video announcement on Altpress.com at: http://tinyurl.com/8xrd4qs. MikeyWhiskeyHands first came to life as a bit of a lark, but has evolved into much more. As Fuentes recalls, “WhiskeyHands started out as a joke. I was on tour with Pierce The Veil, and Jaime (Preciado, PTV bass player) was making beats on his lap top. I remember playing a show in Vegas and I randomly laid down a verse to one of his beats and right away we knew we had to show people what we could do with this. I’ve been into rap/hip hop before I even started listening to/playing rock so it’s more of something I can have fun with and contribute to the many parties/clubs/gang bangs around the world”, he says half-jokingly. Fuentes has gone on to record a handful of songs as MikeyWhiskeyHands over the last few years, some featuring guest appearances from the likes of Jonny Craig (aka Dr. Craig), Derek Sanders (Mayday Parade) and his bandmate Preciado (who produces all the tracks.) ‘Get Your Mind Right’, the first proper single off MikeyWhiskeyHands’ forthcoming LP was also produced by Preciado and will be released April 3rd on Velocity Records. With Pierce The Veil currently in the studio recording the follow up to 2010’s ‘Selfish Machines’, Fuentes’ day job is keeping him plenty busy, but he plans to resume work on the MikeyWhiskeyHands project once PTV is done working on their record. As Fuentes explains, “I’ not tryna’ change the rap game here.
