Premiere / EP stream: Midnight Davis – Need U Tonight (Five Easy Pieces)

Dummy premiered Midnight Davis’ ‘Need U Tonight’ yesterday, now available as a free download from the Five Easy Pieces Bandcamp page
“It’s a dreamy, drawn out world he creates across these four tracks, sounds thickly layered, songs stretched and pulled out into new and strange shapes.” – DUMMY

Release date: OUT NOW
Need U Tonight is the new 4 track release from mysterious new London artist Midnight Davis. The EP features lead track ‘Deafmess’, premiered in February on Xfm by Mary Ann Hobbs as part of a Midnight Davis mini mix here:
The title track is a lonely, sleazy rework, taking the leather trousers off INXS and replacing them with tear stained pajamas. The EP is rounded off with 2 instrumental tracks, Haze & Strumming, showcasing Davis as a varied but also cohesive artist and an exciting – but lonely – new talent to watch. Midnight Davis released his debut EP, ‘Aftershocks’, on Five Easy Pieces in January 2012.
Bleep ‘a big tip for 2012’
Boiler Room ‘an artist set to put you on your arse’
Liminal Sounds ‘If you are desperate for a comparison, just imagine what would happen if Zola Jesus and Cold Cave had musical babies’

Rob Da Bank played Hackman & Bluto’s ‘What Matters’ the other day on his Radio 1 show and we’ve got the rip to share, available here:

Release date: 18th June 2012
Format: 12” / Digital

Carrying on from the success of their last release from Artifact, Deadplate Records present Hackman & Bluto’s ‘What Matters’. ‘What Matters’ is a Marimba infused house track with a weighty bass line, perfectly timed for the summer. South London based James Fox creates a powerful 4/4 remix on the flip, stripping back the original and bringing a 90s UKG flavour to the table. Fox has quickly established himself as a producer and DJ that blends the jack and groove of the rawest deep house with the soundsystem bass pressure of the UK underground. A real powerhouse on the dance floor, this is one of his strongest pieces of work to date. Deadplate Records is a hotly tipped new label coming out of the London underground dance scene, releasing a hard hitting, percussive sound that sits somewhere in between house, UK funky, UK garage and dubstep. With support coming from DJs such as Blawan, Dark Sky, xxxy and Raffertie, it’s fair to say that Deadplate have started very strong and look set to go on to becoming a household name in the UK underground dance scene.
