NYC-based rockers, Dog Date, recently announced their upcoming full-length, Zinger, and they’re back with another crunchy new single ‘Cruel World Reversal’. Due out April 12th from the always impeccable Pop Wig Records, ‘Zinger’ is a 26 minute blast distortion and hooks that’s sure to please fans of all things loud, fast, and a little left of the dial. Dog Date have been making a name for themselves with their scrappy fuzz-punk and pummeling live show powered by a unique dual drummer attack, and now ‘Zinger’ captures that appealing chaos, as evidenced by the hyper-active riffing of ‘Cruel World Reversal’. The track follows lead single ‘Nuff Said’ and some how summons the guitar heroics of James Iha and Greg Ginn in equal measure.

Originally started as the at-home recording project of vocalist/guitarist Dylan Kennedy, Dog Date has evolved into a full-fledged force to be reckoned with. ‘Zinger’ follows the group’s 2021 debut LP, ‘Child’s Play’, and finds the band’s recently fleshed out live lineup–bassist Andy Stoffo, guitarist Malcolm Spraggs Hoyt and drummers(!) Leo Didkovsky and Kristian Pitaccio making their first recorded appearance. Recorded by Matt Labozza and Morgan Miller, the album imagines an almost proto-punk version of the Smashing Pumpkins, with dimed-out Big Muffs blasting over speedy, spiky, primitive songs. So if you have 26 minutes to spare, spend it with the steamrolling rock & roll bedlam of ‘Zinger’ and Dog Date will show you such sights.
