MSPAINT electrifying new single ‘Drift’
Mississippi’s loudest export new EP ‘No Separation’ due out this Friday 05/23 via Convulse Records. US Headline Tour w/ Lip Critic, Draag, Pat And The Pissers.
The band emerged fully formed from the Hattiesburg underground with the release of their acclaimed 2023 debut album, ‘Post-American’, and ‘No Separation’ further refines the highly unique sound that’s made MSPAINT one of the most exciting new groups, not just in aggressive music but well beyond. ‘Drift’ follows lead single ‘Angel’ and highlights the band’s agile songwriting. The track swings between crushingly heavy and strikingly melodic on a dime, with distorted bass, mutated synths, and propulsive drumming colliding into mononymous vocalist Deedee‘s signature roar. LP was promptly followed by a whirlwind of heavy touring with the likes of Soul Glo, Beach Fossils, Twitching Tongues, Spirit Of The Beehive. Now ‘No Separation’ finds band as even more of a well-oiled creative machine. Recorded and co-produced by Show Me The Body’s Julian Cashwann Pratt and Harlan Steel along with MSPAINT‘s own Nick Panella, the EP delves further into the disparate elements that make the band so singular, providing some of their most thunderous moments and also downright beautiful writing to date. “Most of our music is genuinely inspired by our relationships to each other” Panella explains. “We bring together disparate musical philosophies and try to marry them and create our own community that can accept those differences and actually thrive as a result of them. Originality ultimately isn’t about creating something new as much as it’s about navigating your own inner world and the inner world’s of those directly around you until you’ve learned something that hasn’t been learned before.” Group have also announced a massive Summer US headlining tour with support from Lip Critic, Draag, Pat And The Pissers.
