4 SONG EP COMES OUT LATER THIS SPRING. CATCH THE BAND ON TOUR ALL YEAR.

Emeryville, CA – March, 2023 – Pirates Press Records is so excited to welcome Teenage Bottlerocket to the family to release their new EP ‘So Dumb/So Stoked’ that will be unleashed on April 28th. The two title tracks from this A-side come from the band’s differing perspectives during the pandemic. “These songs were recorded in 2020 which we all know was a pretty crazy year (to say the very least). I wrote ‘So Dumb’ because I was pretty frustrated with people’s inability to seek common ground and try to make things actually better,” says bassist Miguel Chen. However, Chen’s experience during the pandemic is only one side of the coin. The flip side is guitarist/singer Kody Templeman’s ‘So Stoked’ an upbeat number written in appreciation of the positive stuff in life. “In retrospect, it’s funny that the Buddhist of the band wrote the bummer song, while the guy who is into the… uh… dark arts wrote the sunshine/happy song” adds Chen. In addition to the title tracks, singer/guitarist Ray Carlisle contributed ‘It Wasn’t Enough’ and Kody’s ‘Heart Attack’ closes out the EP.

For Teenage Bottlerocket, this EP with Pirates Press Records is a long time coming and pairs them back up with an old friend. “We’ve been big fans for a long time, and as collectors ourselves we love everything the label does with vinyl variants. Added bonus it’s a nice chance to work with our old friend Chad again. Everyone on the PPR team has been so rad, we’re just… well, stoked!” exclaims Chen. Par for the course with injecting some humor into their works, the band enlisted the services of Jim Barnes to provide unique artwork for the EP. The band wanted to have the front and back covers—two front covers really—play off of each other and Jim really brought that idea to life, and to hilarious effect. Teenage Bottlerocket is set to play all across North America and Europe this year, with more dates to come.
