THE DROWNS RELEASE NEW SINGLE ’1979 TRANS AM’ DOUBLE A-SIDE 7” OUT NOW
Salad Days

Seattle, WA – November, 2023 – Have you been looking for a track to get stuck in your head for days on end? Look no further than the new single from The Drowns called ’1979 Trans Am!’.

Frontman Rev sings “Do you wanna take a ride / Do you wanna take a ride in my Trans Am?” with an old-school school rock’n'roll feel that will transport a listener back to the early 70’s. The song coincides with the release of the band’s new double A-side 7” ‘Just The Way She Goes / 1979 Trans Am’ which is available on the Pirates Press Records webstore. ’1979 Trans Am’ evokes striking imagery to a simpler time in life: a classic love song while cruising down the highway in the iconic muscle car of a by-gone era. Couple that with the punchy performance from The Drowns and frontman Rev’s powerful delivery, and you’ve got a track that is ready-made to be listened to with the top down and the radio up. With the release of ’1979 Trans Am’ for your listening pleasure, Pirates Press Records has put up the double A-side 7” for sale, which also contains the song ‘Just The Way She Goes’. The release focuses on two standout tracks from the band’s upcoming LP ‘Blacked Out’ to hold fans over until the record comes out February 2024. ‘Just The Way She Goes’ is an ode from co-songwriter Andy Wylie to his band and about the experiences he’s made with them. Rev fondly explains “It’s written about our crazy lives as nonstop touring musicians. We get to travel the world with our best friends.”

The band reunited for ‘Blacked Out’ with longtime producer Ted Hutt (Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, The Gaslight Anthem) to deliver an album that fuse their varied influences brilliantly – from the boogie-woogie shuffle roots of original 50s rock’n'roll, to the strutting swagger of 70s glam & “bovver rock” to the gritty rabble-rousing of ’77 style anthemic street punk – into a laser-tight, cohesive sound that is unmistakably theirs. Just last week, the band released its first single titled ‘Blacked Out’. To get the word out quickly about the single, Pirates Press Records made 5000 picture flexis! You can get them for free with any purchase on webstore and will soon be found at local record stores and on The Drowns’ merch table.
