THE INCITERS PREMIERES NEW TRACK ‘BRING BACK THE WEEKEND’

THE INCITERS PREMIERES NEW TRACK ‘BRING BACK THE WEEKEND’
Salad Days

Santa Cruz, CA – October 2023 – The Inciters, one of the newest additions to the Pirates Press Records family to premiere the song ‘Bring Back The Weekend’…

…the title track from their new album which is also now on sale. The track was developed over two years by baritone saxophone player Timmy Bailey. “The rhythm and melody built up in my head over the course of 2 years or so (usually while I was in the shower). My original lyrical concept was to write it as a thank you to our bus driver for rescuing us from a freezing Paris sidewalk, but then one day, the opening line popped into my head, and I ran with that theme instead” he remarks. “This is my personal fave song on the album. It is The Inciters doing exactly what we set out to do… our version of foot-stomping, melt your face off, northern soul!” says trumpeter Rick Kendrick. The rest of the album, are by far the band’s best work – capturing the energy and spontaneity of their live show – 11 tracks of upbeat, hard-partyin’ soul stompers! The band can also be caught doing what they do best, embarking on their first European tour in over five years following the release of the LP. “We wanted to keep it feeling live, not a live album but our energy. We recorded as much as possible all together. We had the rhythm section in the main room, the horns in a booth (a big booth), but [there was] also a large window so the horns could see the rhythm section. All the horns recorded at the same time so we could capture the feel. The singers were in another booth.” says Kendrick. “There was the usual overdubbing and whatnot, but for the most part this captures our energy… I guess you could say our soul!”. The Inciters are not your average 10 piece band. The group has been together since 1995, with a number of different members over the years, and have been delighting the crowds of punks, mods, skins, Oi!, and power pop shows with their own brand of Northern Soul tunes. So what exactly is Northern Soul? It’s a sound inspired by soul artists from the 1960s hailing from northern England. Kendrick explains that these artists would have these huge soul all-nighters where they’d spin these high energy soul stompers. With an upcoming European tour including several festival appearances, a music video, and more new tunes on the way, The Inciters are bringing their foot-stomping songs and energy to the masses!
