Announce debut album ‘Séance’ out April 7th on Equal Vision Records / Venn Records.

UK band The Nightmares have announced their debut album, ‘Séance’, set for release April 7th on Equal Vision Records and Venn Records (UK/EU). Centered around recurring themes of death, love and mourning, The Nightmares create a dark, yet hopeful noir pop sound. The quartet have released their anti-Valentine’s single, the fittingly-named ‘Heartless’. Showcasing their goth and post-punk influences, the track has a seemingly melancholic demeanor with tranquil vocals and haunting rhythms. The video for the song plays into the band’s signature black and red motif while focusing on moments of separation. Speaking on the single, the band commented:

“Life can feel relentless… like you’re constantly fighting against the tide. And after experiencing heartbreak, it’s easy to grow cold. This can often be perceived by others as being heartless. However, the reality is it takes an awful lot to learn to trust again once that bond has been broken. ‘Heartless’ is a song about learning to trust someone again.”

Forming in 2018, The Nightmares are as inspired by shared musical passions – The Cure, Placebo, Interpol – as they are by the art of séances. Aptly, a life-changing experience with the other side inspired what would become the ten tracks on ‘Séance’. Recorded at Stompbox Studios in Wales with Richard Jackson (who produced, mixed, and mastered the record), the band met him for the first time the morning they entered the studio and it seemed like a fateful match. The result is an infectious and powerful debut album, conveying a message of paranormal love and supernatural fear.

The Nightmares is Adam Parslow (Lead Vocals, Guitar), Eleanor Coburn (Keys, Vocals), Benjamin T. Mainwaring (Bass) and James Mattock (Drums, Backing Vocals).
